Osceola Velo Club History

Original Club Racing Jersey -- 1998
  Early Years

The Osceola Velo Club was established in January of 1998 by USCF Cat 4 road racer and USCF certified cycling coach Pat Schlager in order to give road bicyclists in the Kissimmee/St. Cloud, FL area the opportunity to be introduced to and participate in the sport of bicycle road racing.

In its first year of existence, the club, at that time called the Osceola County Cycling Club, was registered with the USCF, the governing body for bicycle road and track racing in the USA.  After that first year, the club has continued as an unaffiliated road racing club with its members competing as "unattached" racers in USCF-sanctioned events.

Second Coming

After some lean years, interest in the club was renewed in 2005.  Its name was changed to the Osceola Velo Club, and founder/coach Pat Schlager became a USA Cycling Licensed Level 3 Coach.

2006 saw a dramatic increase in the club's membership, the designing and ordering of custom club racing jerseys, and the establishment of this website.

Onward and Upward

In 2007, a number of club members raced on the road for the first time, additional racers joined the club, and the Osceola Velo Club scored its first points in the season-long Florida Points Series (FPS).
